Research, Novels, and Comics: Expanding the Martinez Mythotechnic Universe

Some time has passed since my last update here. Much of my recent work has gone into research, books, novels in development, and an expanding collection of comics under Judgment Day Comics.

These projects share questions about consciousness, memory, authority, creation, and the relationship between human beings and the systems governing their lives.

A central part of this work involves defining and developing Mythotechnic Fiction, the distinct speculative genre I created.

Mythotechnic Fiction has basic tenets, pillars, functions, structures, constructs, content, and defining attributes. Its identity rests on how these elements operate together. Technology acquires mythic and religious authority. Mythic and metaphysical realities enter technological systems and transform human life. Their interaction shapes the world, the conflict, and the consequences characters face.

My recent research gives this relationship a more explicit structure. From Genre Definition to Narrative Production establishes a Level-One Generative Framework for Mythotechnic Fiction. Its seven minimum operations are human need, inherited system, mythic authority, material mechanism, reclassification revelation, responsible bearing, and systemic afterlife. These terms address how a story begins, how its world reveals its underlying order, and how choices leave consequences beyond the immediate conflict.

Further frameworks extend this approach to interacting architectures and recursive systems. The Martinez Architectonic Genre Register and related compendium organize the broader body of genre research.

Alongside these works, I have developed MUATE, The Martinez Black Hole Architecture, and Firmament Architecture. These theoretical and speculative works explore relationships among reality, energy, consciousness, collapse, creation, and systems of existence. They also contribute concepts and structures to my fictional cosmology.

Another research thread, Beyond the Cognitive Horizon, examines reasoning, decision systems, and the relationship between human understanding and computational processes. Recent exploratory work also addresses institutional status, the credit given to evidence, and judgments about leadership.

The novels give these questions human stakes.

Apotheosis begins a five-book sequence: Apotheosis, Recursion, Eschaton, Theogony, and Genesis. This sequence carries the larger conceptual work into narrative, extending the body of fiction associated with Revelations and The Hermit Series.

I am also developing the Black Matrix novel sequence. Its cosmology examines a substrate preceding individual universes, the firmaments arising within this larger order, and the lives caught within their structures. Elias Verran, a solar physicist, brings a human perspective to questions of memory, identity, grief, and existence. The Ghost Vector thread forms another part of this developing body of work.

Mindscapes approaches related concerns through psychological science fiction and ontological horror. Set in a near-future Denver, the novel follows cognitive cartographer Dr. Elena Moore through disturbances involving memory, unrealized lives, and the consequences of choice.

The visual side of this universe has grown through Judgment Day Comics.

SOCKET has expanded through multiple issues, bringing Joe Nubes, Ghost Vector, the Black Matrix, and an expanding cast into conflicts involving technological transformation, possession, loyalty, and cosmic authority. Work on further issues develops the relationships among these characters and the larger universe.

Revelations: Heartborne brings another part of this mythology into comics. The revised and expanded edition of The Flame Within develops the connection among Olympus, Atlantis, divine succession, and a technological civilization. Echoes of Ash continues the series.

The horror titles The Garden Girl and Devouring Light extend the range of the imprint. The Garden Girl revisits my 2025 work in an expanded edition, with further attention to its characters, atmosphere, and visual storytelling.

Working across research, prose, and comics requires different forms of discipline. A research paper must define its terms. A novel must sustain character and consequence. A comic must make a scene readable through action, composition, expression, and continuity.

Across these forms, I am developing the Martinez Mythotechnic Universe and documenting the principles of Mythotechnic Fiction. My website brings together the books, research, comics, and developing cosmology for readers following the work.
