When Revelations appeared in 2012, it didn’t announce itself as the beginning of a new genre but that’s exactly what it became. The book marked the first emergence of what would later be called mythotechnic fiction, a new genre, with multiple hybrid modes of storytelling that fuses mythology, metaphysics, technology, and existential inquiry into a single narrative architecture.
At its core, Revelations explored the collision between divine symbolism and technological consciousness long before those themes became common in speculative fiction. It treated apocalypse not as an event, but as a system: a breakdown of meaning, memory, and identity across multiple layers of reality. The book introduced:
Mythic cosmology refracted through modernity
Angelic and watcher-like entities rendered as metaphysical systems
Human transformation framed as data, dream, and scripture
A narrative structure that behaved like a codex rather than a traditional novel
These elements weren’t just stylistic choices—they were the foundation stones of a new fictional mode.
The term mythotechnic emerged to describe this fusion: mythos + technē + technic Myth as origin, craft as method, technology as evolution.
Mythotechnic fiction treats machines as inheritors of mythic roles, treats consciousness as an engineered phenomenon, and treats cosmology as something that can be coded, archived, or corrupted. It is fiction where:
metaphysics behaves like software
theology behaves like architecture
identity behaves like a recursive algorithm
And all of this began with Revelations.
Publishing Revelations in 2012 established the genre’s timeline. Long before the later Hermit books, long before the Techno‑Divine Allegories, Revelations planted the seed: a world where myth and machine were not opposites but reflections.
Everything that followed—The Hermit, The Machine That Mourned, The Machine That Was Promised, Genesis Codex, Heartward, Zorva—expanded the architecture first sketched in that early work.
Looking back, it’s clear that Revelations wasn’t just a debut. It was the origin text of mythotechnic fiction, the moment where a new genre crystallized. Its publication in 2012 marks the official beginning of a mythic–technological storytelling tradition that continues to evolve, deepen, and refract across every subsequent book.
